Understanding Interior Design

Transform Your Bathroom Into A Luxurious Retreat

Quite possibly the most neglected room when it comes to interior design and aesthetic appeal is the bathroom. However, since you, your family, and your guests will inevitably spend a significant amount of time in there, this should absolutely not be the case. So, when the time comes for you to do a little bathroom remodeling, you should take the opportunity to transform your drab and dull bathroom into a luxurious retreat that feels more like a relaxing spa than a dark, dank corner in which to do your business and hurry out. Use some of these ideas to help jumpstart your bathroom remodel and create a luxuriously designed space for you and your family.

Change Up Your Lighting

When it comes to lighting in the bathroom, most people have the standard harsh lights that sit atop the mirror. Unfortunately, this traditional lighting method creates unflattering shadows and does little for your self-esteem.

So, one of your first steps should be to change up your lighting. Adding a vintage (or vintage-inspired) chandelier to your bathroom can do the trick. Not only will you have softer lighting, you will also add a touch of glamour and elegance to your bathroom space. A chandelier can set the entire tone for any room, creating a vintage and luxurious feel.

Otherwise, you can also add unique and intricate wall sconces, or even pendant lights to liven up your bathroom space and add interesting and eye-catching design elements to your bathroom. As an added bonus, any of these lighting choices will get rid of that harsh glare of the standard bathroom lighting that you hate to see when you look in the mirror.

Add A Funky Mirror

In standard construction practices, the bathroom mirror is often just a large piece of glass fixed directly to the wall. These large, wall-sized mirrors are flat, plain, and can sometimes make your bathroom seem smaller because of the amount of wall space they cover (making decorating challenging). However, it does not have to be this way.

In fact, you can add virtually any mirror you like to your bathroom, eliminating the need for those boring, standard glass panels altogether. Find a mirror with a fun, funky frame at an antique store or thrift shop, polish it up, and hang it in your bathroom as part of your remodeling project. The mirror itself becomes an interesting focal point, can add flair and color, can makes your bathroom feel like a one-of-a-kind retreat.

By using these bathroom remodel ideas as a jumping-off point, you will be able to easily create a cohesive and luxurious design for your remodeling project. However, if you need help updating your home, consult with a professional design firm such as Grover's Interiors Inc.
